My Bio

My Photos

Age: 54    Place of Residence: D.C.

Transplanted Organ(s):Kidney   Date of Transplant: 11/5/1975  Transplanted at: George Washington University Hospital in DC

Donor: Deceased    Contact with Donor Family? Sadly, No. Iíve never been able to
find out who my donor was. I believe it came from a female killed in a car accident in Tennessee.

Date Celebrated: I do celebrate the Anniversary of the transplant surgery. I Named the Transplanted Organ ďRe-Tread.

Special First or Significant Event in My Transplant Life: I was one of 4 Americans to he invited to go to the First Transplant Games, in Southsea, England, in 1978! Also, perhaps. a current Club member and I started what was considered the first transplant club here in DC, in 1976 called the G.R.A.F.T. Club (Gods Renal Army for transplants). Our Doctors called it the Grateful Recipients After Finding Transplants.

How Transplant Has Affected  My Life: I think its greatest impact has been to have extended my life another 29 years! I was 21 I when I received the Gift of Life and now IĎm 50!
Iíve been able to see my beloved Mother reach the age of 73 this past May!
Iíve been allowed to be alive to see my beloved Grand Mother reach the age of 93 before being called home a few years ago.
Iíve been allowed to be alive long enough to have accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior.
Iíve been allowed to be alive to see my son grow to reach the age of 24... and to see my first Grand Daughter come into being!
Though I didnít have a relationship with my father till I was 18, He lived
another 22 years after our re-uniting, and those years were enhanced by the
freedoms transplantation gave me to travel, unrestricted, to visit him.
